Furniture flipping can be a very lucrative hobby/side hustle, especially if you are able to find most of your furniture for free. But before you start your flipping journey, you’ll need to invest in a few basics to get you started. I’ve made a list of the 5 essential tools you need to start furniture flipping.

  1. SANDER- A sander is arguably the most important thing you need in order to start flipping furniture. You will use this for almost EVERY piece you get. I used this specific sander for 5 years before investing in a Dewalt Orbital Sander & ill be honest; I miss this one. It’s a great value and will get you far. You’ll need to grab sanding squares for this one as well. I linked a variety pack to help you get started!

  2. WOOD FILLER- Chances are if you get your furniture for free or a major bargain; there will be minor dings and damage to them. Wood filler is useful for majority of these small damages. I don’t think there is ONE project that I HAVEN’T needed to use wood filler. It truly is a necessity in this industry.

  3. WOOD GLUE- I can’t tell you how many times I have picked up a piece of furniture off the side of the road and found that the ONLY thing wrong with it is a drawer side that needs to be re-glued. It’s such a simple fix with a little wood glue! Oh well! Great for us furniture flippers!

  4. PAINT BRUSHES- This one might be a little self-explanatory; but good paint brushes are a necessity when starting out. Zibra paint brushes are by far the best! The variety pack I linked is a great starter kit!

    1. Although a paint sprayer is great for redoing furniture; it’s a larger investment. I suggest starting out with paint brushes first. If you decide you are in this for the long haul then invest in a good paint sprayer.

  5. DRILL SET- Another essential is a drill set. If you don’t have one already; this one is a great starter set! You’ll need this for removing and attaching knobs and handles. Another product that you will be using for 100% of your flips!

DIY furniture flipping can be so much fun! I hope you found this list helpful. Stay tuned because I will soon be launching a Furniture Flipping Course for all beginners!
